FAQs
Are these walkie talkies compatible with my GMRS mobile radio?
Yes, all Midland FRS and GMRS radios are compatible, as they operate on the same frequencies. Just a note, the MXTs will not operate with FRS radios on channels 8-14 as they are FRS only channels. You will be able to communicate on channels 1-7 and 15-22.
What batteries does this walkie talkie use?
The Midland T51s come with a rechargeable battery pack, the AVP14, but you also have the option to use 3 AAA alkaline batteries.
Why am I not getting the full range advertised?
As a rule, radio frequency is affected by things such as obstructions, terrain, weather, material, etc., which can all degrade radio signal. Midland shows the maximum range that can be reached in ideal conditions. Ideal conditions include no obstructions between you and the other person, a fully charged radio set to high power, and communication over a flat surface such as water, or mountain top to mountain top.
